Moscow-based producer Alex Leyfa has been active for the best part of 10 years now, dropping albums on Local Talk and In-Beat-Ween as well as scores of EPs for City Fly, 4Lux, Soundofspeed, G.A.M.M. and many more. Now he's up on Lumberjacks with some choice cuts that show off his instinct for fluttering breakbeats as much as headsy house music, not least on the soaring, smooth delights of 'Good Thing!'. 'Up We Go!' rides another high grade break and chops up plenty of soul samples in the mix too, while 'HEAVY' explores a wilder broken beat terrain where you can almost visualise Leyfa getting creative on the MPC pads. 'My Reflection' completes the set with a seriously grooving house cut replete with loom bird samples and dreamy guitar licks.
